Music composition aid? Pipe layout? #relentlessly realistic

I joined the Qubits 2021 event to see if there were any GIS related tasks that might be attacked with quantum annealing... I found it and interesting 2 days so far - especially as before becoming a programmer, I worked as a physicist. I wondered about certain layout problems for pipes, cables, trenches, etc. Anyone aware of work in this domain? I was reminded along the way by an old optimisation problem that was parked years ago: building and using metrics for melodic and harmonic layout in a composition assistant...

  • Hi John,

Thank you for participating in Qubits 2021!

Here's a layout-related pipelines network code example that might interest you: https://github.com/dwave-examples/pipelines

Also, check out the D-Wave quantum applications page as it has more than 250 user-developed applications covering a broad spectrum of industries and use cases.

I hope this helps! If you have a specific problem that you want to solve with quantum annealing, please let me know, and maybe I can direct you to some more relevant resources.
