Why Do Solvers Come and Go?

You may have noticed that sometimes a new hardware or hybrid solver is released and other times a solver is decommissioned. Why does this happen?

A hardware solver is a gateway to a physical QPU. When we have a new QPU with new technology, we make it available to Leap™ users. Since solvers have properties specific to the QPU they represent, we need to release a new solver for every new QPU .

In order to continue innovating and improving on our quantum technology we take older QPUs offline so we can use the system for research and development.

Likewise, we apply an iterative approach to hybrid solvers. When there is a new hybrid release, we increment the version number.
